    Default Serious Reason for Emancipation

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Louisiana

Hi, I'm 16 and will be 17 in July. I make +800$ a month. I'm not sure that's even nearly enough to live alone but I need to get away from my family. When I was little, my brother molested me and he is now 26 and recently moved back into my parents home. I have been staying with my aunt and I have told my parents I was molested before (but I didn't say who) and they ignored me. I cannot stay and live with a person who caused so much pain in my life. I no longer accept money from my parents, do not speak to them and am trying to get an appartment. I really need to know what I would have to tell the judge for him to allow me to leave and support myself in a healthy enviroment. I am also homeschooled and will be getting my GED when I turn 17 next month as I was denied an education by my parents. I plan on attending a community college after obtaining my GED. I cannot prove my molestation and that angers me and scares me that I may not be able to ever prove it and he will live his life ignoring what he has done to me. My parents have looked at this as a way of getting attention. I can assure you, it is not. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Call child protective services and report the abuse.

It doesn't mean automatic removal they will step in and investigate and take what they feel are the Proper options to deal with the case at hand.

You're not going to be emancipated on this basis.

Like many other kids, you do not fully comprehend the meaning of emancipation. It is not and never was intended to be a way to allow you to leave home. It was and is a way to give legal protections to those kids who, for reasons beyond their control, are ALREADY living on their own.

    Perhaps... perhaps not.

But that is the proper response to your question.
