Default Last Name on Birth Certificate
Does anyone know if it makes a difference or not if the child has the same last name as the father? I am pregnant and am due in a couple of weeks. The father has mentioned that he want's 50/50 custody and I don't think that should happen with a newborn baby. I plan on him seeing the baby often, but think that it should be a couple of hours during the daytime with no overnights for a little while at least. If he does decide to take me to court and fight this will it give him more rights if the baby has his last name? Or is it smarter to give the baby my last name? I was planning on giving baby his last name so in the future one day if I get married to someone else, the baby will at least have one of our last names, but now I am starting to wonder if I will be putting my rights at risk. In case it makes a difference, I live in Michigan.

Thanks in advance...

It won't make any difference.
