Subpoena of Documents - Where And When Are They Delivered?

My question involves court procedures for the state of: New Jersey.

If I subpoena a set of documents from a government agency, will they be delivered to my house ahead of the court date or do they get delivered to the court directly on the day of the trial and so I have to examine them there?

What time and place have you specified in the subpoena for delivery of the items?

Incidentally, you need to read the general court rules governing subpoenas and check for any specific rules for the type of court you are in, as well as any local court rules.

I should have been more clear in my original post.

I am considering using a subpoena to get some police department records that were not released to me in my discovery request to the prosecutor nor were they released in my request for information through New Jersey's freedom of information act from the police department directly.

The issue is a speeding ticket so, yes, the police department is definitely a party in this issue. I will check out the web sites mentioned.

If you have requested public documents and they have not complied, then you need to file a motion for dismissal with the court. There are limits on what is discoverable.
