Default Suicide and Xanax Use
Hello,

My name is Karen Ray and three years ago my mother committed suicide in Brewer, Maine. I have two older sisters and we were extremely shocked and confused. Six weeks prior to her suicide she had told my middle sister Jennifer that she had started to feel very depressed and that she thought she may be addicted to Xanax. She then asked her doctor what to do and he advised her to decrease her dosage slowly. She went down hill quickly from there. One week prior to her suicide she had checked herself into the hospital telling them that she felt as though she was losing her mind and that she had thought about hurting herself. They released her on Tuesday, she bought a small handgun on Thursday and shot herself on Monday. My sisters and I had no idea that my mother had been on Xanax. Following her funeral, I requested her medical records from her primary care and her workmans comp. attorney. Come to find out she had been prescribed Xanax for 17 years!!!!!! Seventeen years by the same physician! I started to do my homework on Xanax and the protocol for the withdrawal of Xanax. It made me sick to think that my mother could still be here if she were only treated properly. This is only the basics of what happened, but there are many key details that are missing. I would truly appreciate some guidance on this matter. I met with two of Maines top Malpractice attorneys following her suicide and they told me that because suicide was so hard to prove they couldn't help me. If someone could please contact me I would truly appreciate it. Thank you for your time,

Sincerely, Karen Ray

Default California Malpractice Law
The statute of limitations for California medical malpractice cases is ordinarily three years. You need to try to find a new attorney ASAP.

Default Re: Suicide and Xanax Use
I realize this thread is old but surrently a number of guests are viewing it so I decided to look at it too. I was shocked at Mrknowitall's response! What does California SOL have to do with a case in Maine? You answered OP 15 minutes later and they never responded, no one caught your error. OP had already consulted 2 of Maine's "top" malpractice attorneys who had already told OP why they didn't have a case or it would not be cost effective to prosecute, hopefully one day OP will have some closure.
