Resisting Arrest And Possession of Alcohol, Underage
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Virginia.
Three days ago, i was at a country concert with a bunch of friends. There was a fight involving two kids unknown to me, and the police arrived, asking me and two other friends to come speak to them. I was holding a cup with alcohol in it, and when the police officer asked me of my age, i replied 20. when asking for ID, i replied that i didn't have one on me, although it was in my back pocket. My true age is 16, and after realizing the mistake of lying to the police, i admitted this to him, which he thereafter handcuffed me and searched me. I was issued a citation for possession of alcohol underage, possession of tobacco underage, and a misdemeanor for resisting arrest (lying about my age). After taking me into the station, he then told me that he needs a warrant to arrest me for the misdemeanor, and that he would get back to me within a week. I have no prior record of any criminal charges, and i am wondering if the misdemeanor will be dropped, and what i can expect when i go to court, July 7th.
Much appreciated, Sep
