My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Florida
I'm a widowed mother of three and my oldest son will be 16 in Aug. I have read the law pertaining to emancipation in FL but I'm not clear on if he would be entilted to the check I get for him until he's 18.
That said, this is my question;
If I petitioned for my soon-to-be 16 year old son to be emancipated and the judge agreed, would he then get the social security check that, at present, comes in my name for him?
I would think not because it would defeat the purpose of being self-supporting.
I would greatly appreciate any help.
