Default 17 Year Olds And Apartments
okay, so i'm placing before you a pretty unique question. i'm 17, living in the state of oklahoma, and according to my mom, i'm unruly. we're both pretty fed up with eachother to tell you the truth. my parents are divorced and my dad lives in new orleans. she's threatened to ship me off to him quite a bit lately. naturally, however, i would like to finish off my last year of high school here. if i am not mistaken, can't a minor live wherever they would like with parental consent? so, on that note, could i not perhaps have my dad, who my mom wants to send me off to anyways, cosign for an apartment for me here in oklahoma? would it matter that he lives out of state? i have a job and transportation also if that's worth mentioning.

You think that's a unique question? We hear that question, or some variable of it, several times a day.

IF your parents give you consent, you can move out. There is nothing in the law that will force them to do so. It's ENTIRELY up to them.

Whether or not any given landlord will rent to you, with or without the cosignature of a parent in or out of state, is ENTIRELY up to the landlord. No law will force him to do so.
