Default Child Support For A High School Drop-Out

My question involves child support in the State of: CA

The mother of my son has just told me that he has dropped out of high school and has moved out. He is 18.
    My question is:
Do I still have to pay child support?
I do not have a problem paying and have been for a lot of years. But if my son is not there I do not want the money going to her.

    Thank you.

You go to court and request modification of support you dont take this upon yourself to decide

Yes, indeed, you must file a modification of child support and if you're not behind on your payments and owe nothing else to the CP, the judge might order the payments to stop as the child is no longer with the mother and being 18 and on his own. In my case, when each of my children turned 18, was not eligible for child support. Thus, I had a blanket order, therefore, I continued to pay the same amount until the last child turned 18. After that, no more payments. Only the judge can decide. Good luck
