Default Domestic Violence Victim Needs To Retrieve Her Belongings

Not for me but my sister. She is in trouble! Her boyfriend of 3 years assulted her. She has gotten an protection order against him. She is in hiding! She has two kids! They are not his!

He won‘t let her have any of her stuff. Not even her or the kids clothes. She has nothing!

She called the police and asked if they would come with her to go get her and her kids things but they refused!

She lives in Dallas Texas. I found a site to legal aid. That can take a while! Is there anything anyone can do?

She has contacted everyone including the Mayer and they say until after the investigation is done there is nothing they can do! When he assulted her he kept her from being able to call the police or get help. She had to get away before she could get help. So they say because of that there is nothing they can do. Now if she was able to get help right with him right there at the house then they could do something! She is even bruised up and swollen.

It makes no since! Its like he has more rights or something!

Make sure that when she's calling for an escort, that she's already in the area and ready to go in. In other words, police aren't going to make an "appointment" to meet her at a certain place at a certain time - she already needs to BE at a location near the residence - at a convenience store down the street, in a driveway around the corner, etc. She might also try giving very little info - sometimes dispatchers (the ones likely deciding whether or not an officer even gets sent on the call) get over-protective of officer's time and if they are under the impression that this is going to have an officer sitting around waiting for you, they might be sitting on the call. It's not the norm, but DOES happen. She should simply call and say that she is having a conflict with herr ex and would like an officer on scene - and leave it at that. If resistance continues after speaking with the shift supervisor, she can certainly go right to the chief of police or sherriff (whoever's department is responding) as well as seeking the assistance from her local domestic violence program (they often have the ears of the higher ups and would certainly have a very vested and public interest in finding out why domestic standby requests are being denied).
