ok, but what does that mean?
Diversion programs vary and are not available everywhere. However in short they act as a guilty verdict but once you complete program no conviction appears on your record
Diversion usually occurs before a plea, such that it does not constitute a guilty plea. When a guilty plea is entered, but the charge is dismissed if the person successfully completes a period of probation, it's most often referred to as a deferral (deferred sentence).
ok, so I have court June 4th (2 days). Is this what I should do, if not please advise.. Go in, looking very professional. Tell the solicitor (if there is one) that I would like a fine, probation, and community service with no criminal record. and if they say I cant do that, then go to the judge and do not plea at all, just ask for a public defender. Please, if there is any more advice, I would love to hear it. I know I am guilty and was wrong but I would like the better myself by not having this on my record which would effect me getting a good job and providing for my family. thanks!
