Unhappy Spousal Support For A Two Year Marriage

My question involves divorce in the State of: Georgia

I have been married for 2 years. My husband has been seeing another women throughout the marriage. I am filing for divorce this week. I have a infant under a year old. I moved out of the house because when I asked him to leave he would continue to provoke me daily. The house is in his name and he purchased it before we married. He bought another house after we married for rental property and that house is currently occupied by tenants, so I now live with my mother.

My question is I know he will be required to pay child support, but what am I suppose to do? I am a professional and I work full time now as of two weeks ago from working part time. I have a lawyer and we are working out details. He makes six figures and I now have to change my lifestyle becuase he decided to be blatanly disrespectful and outright tell me he will not cut this relationship off because he stated he needed more time. His mistress has been bold and arrogant which makes matters worse , but I realize it is not about her, but about him.

I admit I stayed longer than I should have, but I just had a baby when all of this started. I am angry and hurt, but I need some help as to what I should ask for because now I have to purchase a home and start over.

What does your attorney advise you to ask for?

Spousal support for a 2 year marriage isn't normally ordered, but the best thing to do is to talk it over with your attorney.

Personally, I think it's always a good idea to request more than you think you'll get because it gives you room to mediate. But, above all, follow your attorney's advice on the issues.

I really just wanted some HELP with a down payment on my home and obviously support for our son. I talked with my attorney yesterday and she advised the best thing to do is present the case before the judge and go from there. My attorney believes my request is fair. At this point I am ready to move on, but I am glad my attorney can be my voice when I become frustrated and fed up. We will go through mediation before we go to court, so hopefully we can meet some where in the middle. Thanks for your reply.
