Inherited mineral rights

My father sold several hundred acres of land in Texas about 20 years ago and kept the mineral rights. He has leased the land to oil and gas companies over the years. He passed away several years ago and I am wondering who to contact to resume the leasing of these mineral rights. I don't believe he had any of it leased at the time of his death.

So you inherited the mineral rights, but nobody was leasing them either at the time of your father's death or in subsequent years? Do you know who was leasing them in earlier years?

No, I don't know who had been leasing them. There were lots of different oil and gas companies over the years.

Are you trying to contact a former lessor?

No, I haven't tried contacting a previous lessor because I don't know who has leased in the past. My parents had this land for years and years and several companies have leased the rights over the years. Can you suggest anyone that I might contact? I know the name of the man that bought the land from my dad but have not had any contact with him whatsoever.
