    Question $20,000 Offer Lump Settlement

My question involves workers compensation law for the state of: MA.

I do not have an attorney--so please help!

I was offer $20,000.00 lump sum. $4,000.00 for scarring and $2500.00 for loss of function...leaving the actual settlement of only $13,500.00.

My question is am I getting hosed??? I was told by surgeon that I am disabled, got SSDI on 1st try. Phys. Therapy says I'm unable to work---13.5 seems awfully low for someone who's 48 and who's future is a life of living on social security (near poverty) and in daily constant pain. Am I right in thinking that I'm being low balled?

Also--the insurance co. attorney told me that the judge may state that I was paid enough with weekly benefits and the 6500.00 I received for scar and loss of function...so if I don't settle now I could lose the 13,500.00 that I'm being offered by the insurance co. Is that true???

I just feel pressured by their atty to settle--like he's trying to scare me into settlement.

    Any help appreciated Thanks

Since we have no idea of your injuries, what medical care you may have had/may still need, or any other details of your situation, we cannot possibly tell you if this is a fair offer or not.

You need your own attorney. Now.
