Default Loss of fingertip at work

My husband lost before the 1st nuckle this past weekend. He had surgery to cut back the bone, removed the sliver of fingernail that was left and sew it up. He had to go to the Healthworks which is the company doctor on monday which released him back to work. The Dr that did surgery said NO WAY and took him off work. So it is fighting between 2 doctors but my husband's work says come to work until it is settled between the two. Is this going to affect any settlements in the future for loss of 20% of finger. What do we do? We are in Iowa.
