    Default Expungement Law In Indiana

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Indiana

My daughter was convicted of a class D felony when she was 18. She took about $280.00 worth of clothing from a retail store. She is 21 now, she paid all fines and completed her probabtion and did community service. She had to use a court appointed attorney. I found out later that her friend who took more merchandise then her hired an attorney who was able to get it pleaded down to a misdeamnor. My daughter who after having a baby has tired to get a job as well as go to college. Because of this she has not been able to do either. Does she have any chance of getting this expundged?

Default Re: Expungement Law In Indiana

I understand Indiana to have limited "expungement" options, following a guilty plea or verdict:

    * Seeking a pardon which, if successfully obtained, provides a basis for expungement by "wiping out the guilt"; or

    * Applying with the State Police to have a record sealed, with the application to be made not less than fifteen years following completion of sentence.
