My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: New York
While applying for a loan I was informed that there was a judgement a judgement against me in civil court. The judgement was for $1,100.00
and was satisfied. It turns out that this was a medical debt that I was never made aware of. I was put on a debt for my son who was living with my ex wife. I never signed any documentation regarding payment of the debt, and wasn't even aware of the debt untill speaking with a collection attorney.
My question is can I get this judgement reversed because
A.) I was never aware of the bill and never signed documentation stating that I would pay, so the debt was originally not mine
B.) I was divorced at the time, and not responsible for medical bills for anyone other than myself.
3.) I was living in a different state and never served any papers, either at my previous residence or present residence.
The judgement was issued 10/2007 and was satisfied by my ex wife, but I don't want my perfect credit rating tarnished by something I had nothing to do with.
