Default Helping A Friend Move Out In NC

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: North Carolina.

I have a friend who is 15 years old and she wants to move out when she is 16. Her and her mom and step father don't get along very well. She stays with me alot. my parents act like they care more about her than her parents do. Mine do alot more for her. How would she be able to move in with me and my family without her parents permission?

She can apply to the court at 16. See:

BUT.....emancipation isn't an easy process. Less than 1% of petitions are granted, and she's going to need:

    (a) A heck of a lot better reason than "I don't get along with my parents". Every teenager in the world says that. It's part of the natural cycle of life and the reason people in their 40's typically aren't still living with mom and dad. Emancipation is NOT about exchanging your parents for other parents or providers. And...

    (b) Someplace to go and/or a set of circumstances where she is supporting herself - not mooching off your family. Emancipation IS about being in circumstances where you are already supporting yourself (on your own, by yourself) and in need of standing to do things like open bank accounts and sign leases, contracts, etc.
