Question Brandishing A Firearm In Virginia
My question involves criminal law for the state of: VA

Hello all,

I know here you are guilty until proven innocent however I called cops and waited 15 minutes for them to show up as I didn't feel I did anything wrong. The so called victim after he assaulted me I hit him back and about 3 punches were thrown each I backed away called 911 Now I'm also being charged with brandishing a firearm and it was never was pulled out or did I threaten him with it. Anyone know any good VA lawyers In Norfolk/VB Area? One that is decent and affordable as I'm low on cash but will do what I have to to avoid sucky public defender,

Why is a public defender "sucky"? Because he works for free? Come on, now. He could be working for some real money and paying off his horrific student loans instead of representing people who couldn't otherwise afford his services.

PD =/= suck.

You'll want to contact your local Bar Association and ask for a referral to someone who works on a sliding scale.

A word of advice, though? Don't tell them that PDs "suck" - lots of attorneys who work on a sliding scale are also PDs.

You right, I shouldn't say PD= Sucky as I know of some people that ahve had good exp with them however just my luck in NJ I didn't and went to Capital 3 times to file complaits on her they kept telling me give her another shot. One time she was up before judge with client "A" and she was reading Client "B" papers.. The defendant looked at her like wtf and she was like sorry your honor wrong case file. I was like OMG my life is in this womens hands. She tried get me take BS Deals if I took her first deal I would still be in jail now almost 5 years later,. But I kept telling them go hell with their deals. I ended up taking plea for simple assualt did one year probation now this has caused me hardship with jobs. Now I'm facing new charges here in VA and this bs getting brought up 2. You are just another number to overworked Public Defenders and some don't even give a @@@@ about winning they just want their paycheck
