Question Adoption By Stepfather - Biological Father Deceased

My question involves adoption law for the State of: Nevada

Does anyone know how I go about getting my son adopted by my husband? My son's biological father is deceased and I would like to do this on my own without the cost of an attorney. Is this hard to do? Does anyone know where I can get the forms to do so? Thank you!

Normally, a step parent adoption shouldn't be done without an attorney. However, in your situation you can probably do it pro-se.
Although, you should get a consult with an adoption attorney after you have the forms filled out, just to make sure everything is correct.

Ask your court clerk where you can find the pro-se forms for step parent adoption. Normally, the parent would have to show proof that the other parent agrees. In your situation, you can attach a certified copy of the death certificate, that will explain the situation.
