Default Is A Certificate Of Relief Possible?

My question involves criminal records for the state of: New York

I was arrested and convicted of Gl and 3rd degree burg in 1960, no violence, given 5 yrs probation, screwed that up by drinking, probation revolked, was sent to prison, did about 14 months, got paroled, screwed that up by drinking and was sent back, did another 14 months, made parole, finished in 1965..
got arrested few times from 67 to 71, DWI-2 times, a couple other times, had to do with booze.can't remember, seems like i paid a 10 fine and went home.. have been clean since about 1974..
at my age, it wouldn't make a real big difference, but i would like to be able to legally keep a shot gun in my house and be able to let my grand kids shoot their 22s on my property without any problems. I own the property, free and clear. thanks

Default Re: Is A Certificate Of Relief Possible?

As is explained more fully here,
Quote Quoting Certificate of Relief from Disabilities and Certificate of Good Conduct
You can apply for a Certificate of Relief from Disabilities if you have been convicted of one or zero felonies (the number of misdemeanors does not matter). When counting your felony convictions, you must include all federal, New York, and out-of-state charges. You do not count cases in which you were tried as a juvenile delinquent or youthful offender.

You can apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct if you were convicted of two or more felonies (the number of misdemeanors does not matter). You only need to apply for one Certificate of Good Conduct, which will cover all your felony and misdemeanor convictions. But, you must wait a certain amount of time: If your most serious conviction was for a "C," "D," or "E" felony, you must wait at least 3 years from the date of your last conviction, payment of fine, or release from prison. If your most serious conviction was for an "A" or "B" felony, you will have to wait at least 5 years from your last conviction, payment of fine, or release from prison.
