Finding Out What I'm Being Charged With

My question involves criminal law for the state of: california
i got a letter that there is a criminal investigation that i might be involved in. i have a lawyer and i was wondering how can i find out what im being accused of? the detectives talked to my witness and still we not sure what the allegations are. what is going on here?

Since you have an Attorney its your Attorney you should be asking

Your not currently charged! Its under investigation. Investigators think you might know or be involved. If you did nothing then its likely you will face no charges. Do not answer questions without your Attorney present. You might also show him these posts as I doubt your Attorney will be very excited your posting about this on public forum

The police do not have to tell you why you are being investigated. Until you are arrested, they can generally keep that information to themselves.

If they arrest
...don't volunteer a word without your attorney present.
...don't let them try to reason with you (they will) and get you to say something without legal counsel.
If you didn't do anything wrong then you don't need a lawyer; wrong.
If the police believe you did something wrong then they must believe that you have the right to legal counsel; wrong! They will do everything they can to get you to talk. If you ask for a tape recorder so that your statements are recorded, once they tape it ask them to state their name and you will state yours. Officer so and so; at x time I am requesting an attorney and requesting a transcript of this tape. Please get me my attorney; his name is x and his number is #.

If they threaten arrest:
If you ask for a lawyer they will arrest you; it's likely that they were going to arrest you anyway. Talking to them just makes the arrest easier to justify. It's that whole probable cause thing...

Very intresting advice usedbranflakes. I had a very funny feeling on how this investigation is proceeding. I do have a lawyer so i didn't have to talk to the detective. My lawyer called the detective up and asked what was the allegations. Now the detective called my job and said i am being investigated. Now im on suspension until they find out the final disposition of the case. The detective is really playing hardball about this.

He's not necessarily "playing hardball" ... though he may be conducting an investigation. Part of that investigation likely included asking your employer for information - thus, the reason he told them.
