Tickets In Two States

Hello my nephew is from california...put his traffic ticket is in Utah.

He recently got a ticket in california and something came up ....another ticket in UTAH
which we thought he paid. I guess he didnt.


My question: When he goes to court for his ticket in california...what will happen as far as his ticket in UTAH?? He has no job no money...his granddad is an elderly man in is late 70's and he asked me to post this because he is very worried and has such a limited income...

The court in CA won't care about the ticket in Utah. Utah will notify CA to suspend his license. When that happens his vehicle will be impounded and he will probalby go to jail if he is caught driving.

will they let him just pay the old ticket in utah or can he get work release instead of jail time??

The reason I ask is because his granddad is besides himself and has a heart condition...he 's really worried.

I have told him he really needs to let him go....let his grandson get a job and pay his debts..I know its hard but he is 27 years old and really need to be responsible....what do you think?

I don't think anything. The Utah court will tell him what he has to do and the officer that stops him in CA for driving on a suspended license will also tell him what to do. Then the people at the jail will tell him what to do. If CA has suspended his license, paying the Utah court does not reinstate them. He also has to go to the DMV and pay a fine.
