Obtaining Legal Guardianship In Georgia

I just have a question about being a legal guardian. My niece is going to be living with me shortly for a better performing arts education. Her mother has verbally agreed to this. There is no anymosity or anything like that. We just agree that it is best for her in the longrun. I'm a Florida resident for now, but I will be moving to Georgia. What do I need to do as far as paperwork for this to occur legally? I will still be a florida resident because I'm registered as such in a Georgia graduate school at this time.

What are you asking about? An informal grant of guardianship by mom (a form of power of attorney), or a grant of guardianship through a court? If you're talking about court action, you bring your case where the child is domiciled (the state and county where the child legally resides.)
