LPR - Multiple Residency & US Continuous Residency

I am a LPR who will spend several months overseas. I might need to establish residency in my country for an extended period, but I am concerned this action might break the US continuity of residency. I will still keep strong ties with the US (and file 1040 as a resident). However, my query is: is it correct that a LPR may have multiple residences, as long as the US residence is the permanent one?

I'm not going to guess at stuff that could cost you your residency. Look into advance parole, and consult an immigration lawyer.
