Wrong Date On Ticket

I got a ticket in northern virginia for using a highway crossover. The officer wrote on the appear in court date march 29, 2008 and when i went to show up they told me that traffic court offices were closed on saturday. ive showed many people some say 8 most say 9 can i get out of this ticket or appeal the decision since i wanst there i am already at -11 this will put me at -13 and i cant have that.

Since it appears you actual court date was the 28th, you should call the Clerk of the Court and find out the disposition of your ticket. My guess is that you were deemed Failure To Appear and a default judgment of "guilty" was entered.

Since an FTA can result in your license being suspended (it would be in WA), I think you need to contact an attorney as soon as possible and get them to file a Motion to Vacate Judgment. That will, with any luck, set aside the guilty finding and the FTA. If so, you should then be scheduled for another hearing.

And next time you receive a Saturday court date, call the court and verify it.
