    Default Shoplifting

I read that a lot of people are given civil demands by the store without ever calling the cops. In my situation, the cops were called and they issued me a court date. is there any way for me to work something out with the store so that i do not have to even go to court? thanks

Civil demand is completely separate from Criminal Prosecution. Civil demand is payment to the retailer) Think of it like this. Criminal is the police and Civil is the store, you can and will most likely have to pay two fines.
