    Unhappy Assaulted By Stepmother/employer.

    Loc: KY
Sticky situation, acused party is (well was) employer & stepmother, (obviously no longer employer). One day at the office she lost her temper and after yelling & screaming at me punched me in the face when I failed to cower at her screamings. I left & several minutes later returned to the office w/ my father (also at the time employer) per request. After several minutes of yelling & screaming at me even more she attacked me again, only that time I fought back until was broken up by my father. A black eye and several hours later I called the police department for advice and was advised to file a report on assault. So I did just that & am currently awaiting a court date.
I hear she has a lawyer to defend her side of this situation, I however do not. Any advice or information on what could happen or to expect, or what I can do to ready myself for in the courtroom?

*also I am not a minor & upon filing the report I requested she not be arrested as to not upset her children who were due to be home from school soon.

    Exclamation Re: Assaulted By Stepmother/employer.

also I have copies of emails where she has called me an idiot then a day or so later emails apologizing for the way she acted (on more than one occasion she has lost her temper with me and litterally thrown a tantrum screaming "i f*$&#ng hate your guts b*@$& i want you out of my life" - that is on tape)
so there is a history of hatrid towards me, which i guess i could bring up to the court, as well as the tape recorder full of different occurences of her losing her cool with me.

You don't need a lawyer for the criminal side of things - the state prosecutes the case for battery on your behalf. You will likely be called as a witness by both sides to tell your side of the story. She may or may not take the stand. The tapes aren't likely to be admitted into evidence.

You might however seek a personal injury attorney to sue for pain and suffering as well as medical expenses, etc. - but that's a civil case (as opposed to the criminal one).
