Out of State Speeding Ticket

I was out on Nantucket the summer of 1994 and was cited with a speeding ticket, and I don't believe I paid it ( it was a long time ago ) Anyway other than that, my record is extremely clean. I will be undergoing a background check for a CCW license in the State of Michigan. This is a County , State, and Federal background check. They are looking for Felonies, and certain misdomeaners.... If I didn't pay the ticket and a bench warrent was issued back in 1994, does this present a problem??? Is there any statute of limitations??? Thanks in advance for any information!!

Unless you were required to appear in court as part of the ticket, it is unlikely that a bench warrant was issued. It would be unusual for a bench warrant from an 11-year-old traffic offense to show up in a background check with the FBI and the State of Michigan.

If you want to know the status of the ticket, contact the county court where the ticket was issued and see what their records reflect. If you have a bench warrant, consider having a lawyer in that county attempt to resolve it for you without your having to appear in court - the court and prosecutor would likely be happy to close their books on the file, possibly upon the payment of a fine.
