Default Accused of Falsifying Documents in Pennsylvania
Hey everyone I'm 24 and currently work as a nursing assistant for an agency. Two days ago I got a call from my office that a nursing home is making accusations of "falsifying documents" against me. This facility I have worked at well over full time hours and I go there because it is like 7 minutes from my house. Anyway they made the accusation that I haven't worked at their facility since DEC Th 2007. I have worked and made close to 9000 before taxes because of overtime and countless doubles at this place. Anyway I freaked out on my manager because I have worked for this company for five years, and have never even got paid once for a lunch that I've worked through. This accusation comes just one month after a girl who works there takes the scheduling position. She despises me for some reason and makes homophobic and sexual remarks to me nearly every time I work there. She shows me nude pictures of herself in the shower and overall is repulsive to me. I personally feel that she is the one creating this problem. So anyway this nursing home states that my name is no where on the schedule and that I basically forged like 50 some time slips to get paid! My office demanded that I come in and write a statement or the police would be involved. I called the office and spoke with my manager and told her that I'm not signing a single thing before I hire a lawyer. In the meantime I have had numerous full-time employees of this facility call my manager and confirm my presence on the dates I supposedly "wasn't there". My question is this.... I haven't had any charges or anything come against me...what does that mean? I'm so confused and as it seems out of work....So I'm broke...degraded and nothing but the word of the people I work with nearly everyday to back me up....what does this all mean. What steps can I take to fight this. And in the horror that they would win against me what would happen to someone who supposedly took money that way? I'm nervous because this facility has a history of intimidating employees.

what do i do to combat this?
what crime is this?
what would be the punishment for someone with no record....not even a speeding ticket?

can i sue for defamation of character?

The penalty for the offense? That depends upon what, if any, offense is charged.

You're all over the place on this. It isn't clear what you're accused of doing (faking your timesheets; making fraudulent financial transfers; etc.), or what evidence there might be against you. If you're guilty, or you believe the evidence may make you look guilty, consult a criminal defense lawyer.

To look on the bright side, your job is in high demand and finding a new one if need be means you will not be unemployed very long.

The facility is accusing me of faking timeslips to say I was there when I wasn't. I get paid through the agency directly and then the agency bills this facility. They basically are saying they don't want to pay for my hours worked.

That is true I had an interview three days later. It's just sad because I worked for my company for five years along with other agencies. I have a very good relationship with everywhere I've ever worked, thanks for the input.
