    Default Returning Totally Wrong Items

I have rear about people complianing that they are opening hard drives from Best Buy and are getting packages of beans or towels. Can you get charged if you return something like this and the retailer accepts your offer(as a return) and gives you your refund?

Well, thats certainly an interesting question. I mean, as you posting here, you probably either opened a hard drive to find a can of beans, which I highly doubt happened cause this isn't a common thing, or you're considering buying a hard drive and claiming that the box contained a can of beans for a full refund. I remember reading an article last year about somebody that bought an ipod and got a slice of fish (could've been swapped by an employee i'm guessing), in that case, wal-mart gave the person that got the fish another ipod free of charge. To answer your question, yes i'm sure you could get charged with retail fraud for it, that is if the store even accepts your return, though you would be hard pressed to find a store that would accep it, and I suppose it's possible that you could get charged with retail fraud even if the store doesn't accept the return.

If a store did accept a return, wouldn't if be the stores fault for accepting it and because a refund was issued and accepted back, it is considered a binding offer?

Doesn't matter if the store accepted it or not, you still committed a form of fraud, which is in fact a crime.

No. Absolutely not. It's still theft, whether they check your box or not.

I hate, hate, HATE people who do this and firmly believe that the lowest paid clerk in the store should be allowed to take the perp out back and beat the hell out of him with the blunt object of his choice.

Stunts like that contribute to high prices and low wages, and they also create a lot of inconvenience for honest customers who unwittingly purchase such "returned items".

Nolongg, I mean ParkingFar....excuse me....even attempting this is fraud. Getting away with it is definitely fraud regardless of the retailer accepting the return or not.

Possibly a big ol' neon sign would've made this one any more obvious.
