Can 18 Year Old Legally Date A 16 Year Old?

We live in the state of Illinois,and at the age of seventeen, my son began dating a young lady who was fifteen. Now, my son just turned eighteen and the young lady is sixteen. Her parents have welcomed my son into their home and he has a good relationship with them.

My question is, can he continue to date her without the threat of being a "sexual predator," should her parents become unhappy with him. Can her parents, as well as we, his parents, sign some sort of agreement and have it noterized to protect him and allow them to date without any problems?

There isn't anything illegal about dating.

Sex does not mean just intercourse. This list of forbidden fruit for those under age of consent can be...

groping
fondling
some forms of kissing
sexual talk
sexual chat
sexual texts
sexual emails
exchange giving or recieving of provacative photos

Before dating accept fact that if you take it past holding hands you could be in danger. Know your states age of consent. Know that parents are ok with you two dating. Make 100% sure of the teens age as ignorance of the teens age is not a defense in Stat rape charges most of the time

Also, a notarized statement isn't going to protect your son if he is doing something illegal.

In a nutshell. AOC in Illnois is 17!! So it is best for the 18 year old to avoid any romantic relationship at this time.

Some "little old church lady" or a school teacher doing "good" or someone with malicious intent (ex girlfriend, enemy, etc) can push the DA to press charges.

...and remember that even if the parents refuse to press charges the DA can go against their wishes because, in IL, it is statutory rape for the next year or two.

...and the courts can compel the parents and teen to testify against the "love of her life."
