    Default Fraudulent Exchange

ok..i was at this store (best buy) in PA.... i was blackmailed into exchaning a external HDD... I went to the customer service and they were like "we know what u do" then i was like what? they called LP n the manager and then they showed me all those receipts when that guy exchagned those HDDs (he took out the NEW one and replaced them with someone old ones)(9 in total)... well than they called cops... The cop looked at me and he said "u look shocked" then i said cuz i was asked by my friends friend to exchange this... so i came here n i nvr knew this wuld happen. then he said something about court... n then asked for my ID.. i gave him my license.. he wrote down the name n the number... n mentioned something about court... i didnt really hear what he said... But now i am crapping my pants .. i really dont know what will happen and what shall i do??

anywats i live in PA.. and those 9 total HDDs are worth around ($3000)
but i dont think i should be at fault... cuz see when they showed the receipts, two of those days i was at work... so i have that proof...

anyways... DO you think they will mail me something? if yes, then how long will it take? if asked to go to the court, then what should i expect?

My friends friend is no where to be found now....

also that cop wrote down my info in his book and left the store like 2 mins before i did...
so, if they do send me something in mail.. who will it be from? best buy or the cop?

and i know i am not guilty... what shoud i do?

oh btw i have a clean record... no driving tickets nothing whatsoever

Blackmailed. Into committing retail fraud. Assuming I bought this - which, for the record, I don't - in what fashion were you "blackmailed"?

    what shall i do??
Get a lawyer. You are in a PILE of trouble.

You are more than likely going to be charged here with a felony bc the amount is over 2 grand. If your very lucky, you will get all 9 charges seperate and get them dropped to misdemeanors. Either way, your in a HEEP of trouble....get a lawyer TODAY.

If charged with a felony you rlooking at prison if misdemeanor jail time is unknown since we do not know the exact charge yet. Yes you need an Attorney if you cannot afford one request public defender on your next court appearence

To answer the free lawywer question, when you end up in court, which you most definately will, plead not guilty and request a public defender, though with that you might find yourself in prison, you really should find a good lawyer. You will be recieving something in the mail from both best buy and the cops, one will be a bill for several thousand dollars assuming they nail you for all the hard drives, which they probably will, and the other one will be a letter informing you when your pretrial hearing will be.

Also you gain nothing, in fact your losing by lying to people online, we're not here to judge, so if you are in fact lying, we can't help unless you tell us the truth, I also don't buy that story for one second.

"So he was like exchanges them for me or something happens to them...."

That line is pretty much proof you're lying by the way, you said "them" which is plural where as in your first post here, you said you returned one hard drive.

I know you guys are here to help.. but thats how this started. Infact, i work for best buy. We were playing football near my place and couple of my friends rolled in and then few other people followed(my friends friend). We thought he was kidding when he said it, but then he just showed us the gun and that enough for US to get scared and do what he says...

also, will there be an option for me where either i can take this to court of settle this w/o going there.

@them - by them, i meant my siblings...

    Again this is the story..
we were approached by this guy and What he would do is tell us where to go and what to do. So one day he would be like go to Best Buy in this city and i am right behind you and get the HDDs exchanged and then give them to me... We did that 3 time and the fourth time we got caught. The manager was nice and said i Cant give you this back, just leave the store now but the customer service rep was like NO, wait... we have to call the cops then the manager stopped us and had us wait till the cops arrived. THen the cops showed us everything and we were surprised and then the cop wrote somethings(address, Lic #) IN his diary and left.... (he didnt give it to best buy). Two of my friends were with me, that cop didnt ask them for their ID. HE only asked me.... i think because i was the one doing the talking....

First of all, I assure you that wasn't his diary.

Gun?! Why wouldn't you mention something like this before?

So you're telling us that on multiple occasions the same person that you mentioned before who knew your address and family, "blackmailed" you by what you said in this phrase "This is how i was blackmailed.. he had all my info.. like where i lived, what my mom does, what my bro does and everything.. So he was like exchanges them for me or something happens to them....", then approached you with a gun and forced you to return hard drives to best buy, after you must've refused the first time?

Feel free to give them that story in court, and let me know how prison works out for you.

Your story is ludicrous, I am done with this thread, and I highly doubt you're going to get any help here. You need to be talking HONESTLY to a lawyer.

By the way, can you settle this without going to court? If you want that, you better go and find the lawyer that got OJ off.

Sir/Mam i know its hard to beleive.. Even my cuz brother doesnt beleive it. but that is the truth.

BUT i m not living on that. I know that noone, other than ppl who were with me, will beleive me..

Oh and also.. i was only caught with 1 HDD... but then they printed out this report where they had like receipts for all the PRODUCTS purchased from that GIFT Card. and there it showed that happend 9 times..
Oh and btw... see 2 of those days, i was at work .... so THERE is no way i can go and exchange them... and the receipt shows that WHOEVER went on sat/sun (2 days) exchanged 7... so does that mean i CAN only be charged with 1 or 2????
