Is A Wife Responsible For Her Husband's Credit Card Debt?

My husband has a credit card debit where my name is not listed on the application nor have I signed for anything that he is currently in default of. Can the credit card company garnish anything from my wages or our bank account? We live in the state of Florida. Thank you.

You are not legally responsible for this debt but if he gets a judgement they can take your "money" via a joint bank account. I would get off any joint bank account with him if I were you. They can't take your wages either. Boy can you imagine what could happen if they could?

Agree. Since Fl. is not a community property state, they cannot take assets in your name only. However; if there are any joint assets (ie bank accts.), they will go after anything that has his name on it. Of course, they have to get a court judgment against him before they can seize any assets.
