Ticket For Expired PA Registration

We received a $148.00 ticket today for driving with expired registration. I always renew our vehicle registrations just about as soon as they arrive in the mail. The only explanation I can think of for our expired registration is that we must not have received the renewal from the state. We are trying to decide what to do. Either to just pay the ticket or try to fight it. Anyone else ever in a similar situation? Thanks for any input.

Pay the ticket. It is your responsibility to know when your registration expires.

You could have went to the PENNDOT site and it would have told you what to do.

This did happen to me once, but I noticed it before I was cited for it. I told them I didn't get a reminder and they just took my information and I was able to renew.

Three months later I found the reminder in a book. Kids...

Yes, I know it is our responsibility to make sure our license plates get renewed every year. So really it is our fault. But, since we didn't receive a renewal application in the mail we were not prompted or reminded to do it. This is the only reason that we are considering challenging the ticket. Do you think we might have a chance of getting out of the ticket?
