Default Argentinean Debtor
I am from Argentina and lived in the US for two and a half years. I was legal and had all my documentation clear, Social Security Number and Work Permission. I had two US credit cards (Providian and Bank of Amercia). When I came back home I had a $14,500 debt in both cards (total). I was trying to pay the cards, but I was not able to make it because I lost my job. Now, after two years, I am going back to the US. I will try to set up an arrangement with the creditors to pay my debts off.
Questions:
1) Is it possible to pay it now?
2) Is there any type of criminal charge for it? I mean can may I be arrested if I go back to U.S.?

Default Re: Argentinean Debtor
1. If you want to pay your debts, contact your creditor(s), ask for a payoff balance, if you wish try to negotiate a lower payoff, get confirmation in writing of any deal, then send them a check.

2. Failing to pay your credit card bills is normally a civil matter, not a criminal matter. You haven't indicated here that you committed any criminal acts, such as fraud, so we have no reason to believe you would be charged with a crime.
