Default Statute Of Limitations In Alaska
Can anyone provide me with insight on the actual Statute of Limitations on bringing a civil action related to Credit card Debt in Alaska? I have seen both 3 years and 6 years. On one site, I was referred to :

Sec. 09.10.053. Contract actions to be brought in three years.

Unless the action is commenced within three years, a person may not bring an action upon a contract or liability, express or implied, except as provided in AS 09.10.040 , or as otherwise provided by law, or, except if the provisions of this section are waived by contract.

The problem I have is the phrase : or as otherwise provided by law

So I could be missing something somewhere. Anyone with any experience in Alaska Statute of Limitations out there?

Also, can anyone recommend a good consumer lawyer?

Thanks

SOL-State Alaska: Written contracts 6 years; Oral contracts 6 years; Promissory notes 6 years; Open accounts (including credit cards) 6 years.

We don't make lawyer referrals. You can check the phone book or do a google search for a lawyer. They should be able to answer all the questions that you might have & verify the SOL.

It's in a law book I have (section written by a lawyer in Alaska) though I verified it on a couple of web sites by doing a google search. You might want to verify it yourself with a lawyer in your state but 6 years is what I come up with.
