Unhappy Fire Loss Due To Landlord Negligence

    State of Georgia
    Lowndes County

We had a house fire where the landlord installed a fireplace that was not to code. It caused our condo to burn down, and on the fire report states that we lost about $150,000 worth of personal property. Can I file a claim on his insurance to recover this?? We did not have renter's insurance. (AHHHHHH!!!!!)

Please advise what steps I should take.

    Thanks

You don't have a contract with his insurance.

    So, you sue him.

His insurance company has the investigative reports that I would need to sue him. Am I entitlesd to them? I can't prove otherwise it was negligence.

    Hire a lawyer.

    Sue the bad person.

The lawyer will get to see the insurance stuff.
