    Default Back Surgery

    Hello Just Had Back Surgery On 2/18/08 After One Week Started To Get Severe Head Aches That Where Unberable. Went To Surgeon For Check Up And Was Admitted To Hospital . Was Told I Had Cereable Spinale Fluid Leak Was Operated On The Next Day.what I'am Asking Is This A Common Thing Or Not The Surgeon Said It Just Happenns Some Times

    Its not really a fair question to ask ...is it a common thing or not because every person is different. And yes, it just happens sometimes. There is always that risk when operating anywhere within the Central Nervous system.

    It is one of the possible side effects/complications they usually warn about prior to spine surgery, spinal taps, injections, etc. Anytime the spinal cord sheath is invaded, CSF leaks can and do occur. Sometimes this causes headaches, loss of hearing, etc. Normally these symptoms are temporary, lasting for less than two weeks, and aren't as severe while lying down, but there are instances of longer and worse symptoms.
