Default NCO Collecting Student Loans
I got a call from NCO today on a student loan 15 years old that
was 6000.00 at the time of the loan. I have made payments on the loan but I stopped. (things happened) 15 years ago.

I know there is no SOL on student loans, It will never go but does that include to ability to take me to court for payment?

NCO is trying very hard to get me too make a payment like right now. Also they say what I owe is almost 3 times what I borrowed in the beginning.

Is this a trick to get me to start the time on the loan again? I asked for written info on this and they told me there was none. So what am I suppose to do, start paying money to someone without any written varification? of course not. They wanted my bank account number. (I did not give them)

Can I deal directly with the govenment on this and not go through NCO.

I am living in Maryland. Thanks for your help.

Default Debt & Statute of Limitations
The statute of limitations is what prevents somebody from going to court after its expiration; if there is no limitations period, or they are acting within the limitations period, you can go to court.

You can certainly try to negotiate the debt with the original lender, so as to avoid paying NCO's demand. Sometimes a lender will decline to negotiate a debt that they have turned over to a collection agency.
