Getting a visa after a criminal conviction

I was convicted of a felony (embezzlement) in 1993, i did not go to jail, I had probation for 4 years. In ca. 1996 a new law was made, all (permanend resident) aliens with a felony record were to be deportet. I received a letter with a date for a deportation hearing. I went to see a lawyer - he said the best thing to do is take my daughter and move back to Germany. Because if I went to the hearing they would most likely deport me right then - without my daughter. So I moved back to my country (Germany) with my daughter. I was a lawfully admited resident alien with a greencard, this status was of course removed. I am now married to a German engineer working for BMW. My husband might have to go to the States for two years for his company, and I would like to go with him. I do not intent to work, I just want a nonimmigrant visa. I have a 12 year old daughter, she is a US citicen, and a 2 year old daughter with my present husband.

How can I find out if I will be able to go with my husband, or if I can ever visit the states on vacation for a couple of weeks ?
