Thank You your trick worked for me. I went from this to this

    Her trick

    "Dial 1800-300-5616
when you get through and hear, "Welcome to..."
    Press, "1,3,0" "

You got to keep trying most times you get the recording that hangs up on you but keep trying until you get the recording that lets you input with your key pad.
I know your not an employer but the person at the other end does not know how you got there. Just do it!
    Hello,

This whole thing in trying to contact Edd was turning into a nightmare. I had called everyday for at least an hour or two and the same old thing, "please try your call again later" I was almost ready to give up until I went online and Googled the direct number for the Sacramento office and it directed me to the site your on. I tried what you said with the 130 and it worked. I just wanted to say "thanks a million" for the tip.
    Take care, Texas girl.

Californians becoming homeless as EDD fails to send out unemployment checks

    Dear Expertlaw,

Please read the links below and know the EDD scam/screw-up is still true right now 12/30/09 - I hope the news media or somebody can do some investigating and bring the plight of so many poor unemployed Californians into the light. I thought I was the only one in this EDD hell, but I know now there must be many others. My regular benefits ran out on 12/5/09 and I still (as of 12/30/09) have not received any paperwork or checks from the EDD. I have phoned and written and emailed the EDD. I have written to my state senator (Mark Leno), state Assemblyperson (Fiona Ma), Governor (Arnold Schwarzenegger), representative Nancy Pelosi, Senators Boxer and Feinstein and the EDD over and over since 12/15/09 when the EDD announced that it had mailed checks to ALL of California's unemployed people (the EDD lied). I have only received requests for campaign contributions from the elected officials /rolls eyes. I have telephoned 866-333-4600 and checked my file and discovered that EDD has NOT mailed me any checks since my last extension check period ending 12/5/09. I have telephoned 800-300-5616 repeatedly to speak with an EDD representative only to get the recording "We are currently receiving more calls then we can handle" -- goodbye ... click dial tone. I have tried the Vietnamese line and the 12117 trick with the same "too many calls" click result. I have not gotten any response or any help. I have used the https://eapply4ui.edd.ca.gov/eddcomm...rmEDDCOMM.aspx email since 12/21/09 with EDD reference #2288657, #2312559, #2323361 and been ignored. There is no way to see an EDD representative in person anymore. All of the postings on the EDD site must be just cheap, scam, lying PR by the EDD trying to make it look like they are doing their job. But in fact I will be going homeless on or about January 1, 2010 because I do not have enough money to pay my rent due to this EDD mess. My last check stated clearly on its top that I was eligible for additional extensions and no further action was required on my part -- that was almost a month ago. I am 56 years old with chronic health problems and no family or other place to go -- I am totally able to work and I am a good worker -- but being homeless at this time of year is a real death sentence for me. I have called and written to news media and every government agency I could find applicable with no response. WTF is going on with our government and media? I suppose Ebenezer Scrooge is now in control and the unemployed should all die soon and decrease the surplus population -- is that the idea? I hope some power, be it media or government or group, will step forward and help all of the other poor unemployed people and bring the State's callousness into the light of public knowledge. This is a desperate situation that is being totally ignored by the media and the government. Perhaps somebody can organize a mass march on Sacramento where we can set up an "Arnoldville" as we all become homeless.

I am with MarkeyB. Let's get organized. EDD does not care about whether we become homeless or not. They have gone underground, hiding from the people they are meant to serve. The people of California need them now more than ever and they are failing us. Most elected officials are not going to help us. This is why they won't: They know that we have no jobs and therefore, no income. They believe that we are not able to organize nor threaten their job security by forcing them out of office next elections. BUT DON'T BELIEVE IT.

If we do organize, we can force them out of office. We can bond together.

We need to make a web based uniform "report card" for each elected official that fail us

during this EDD mess. Just like the "rate my teacher" website. Then, we currently unemployed California residents can vigorously vote them out of office (against them). We will make sure that there offices are aware of the "report card" website and our promise to vote for their opponants if they do not step in now and reform EDD, give us our benefits when we need them, not 6 months after we become homeless!

Maybe we should start a new thread. Let's gather together, We all have talents that are currently not being utilized due to our unemployment. Even if I receive the check next week, I swear, I will not forget which politicians helped me and which haven't when I enter that voting booth. Let's bond together and make them (the elected officials) work for us!
besides my "elected official report card" any other suggestions, anyone have any good ideas?

I am posting a continuation of my previous post -- as an update for those thousands of unemployed facing eviction and hunger due to the EDD mess. On December 31, 2009 received first email response to my EDD email ref# 2288657. Stating that EDD "forwarded a request for your next extension to begin effective 12/06/09. You have exhausted your 2nd extension. You should receive documents in the mail shortly..." And then on 1/2/2010 I received a telephone call from a lady identifying herself as an EDD employee. She would not give me her name but only her initials. She told me "we are sorry for any inconvenience but several thousand unemployed people were overlooked and not mailed checks on 12/15/09 and we will be processing them and you in the future. You need to have patience and understand that you will receive notices from us in the future." I told her I knew she could not be held to an actual date but could she give me a non-binding hint at when I may get any mail from the EDD. She then said "next week or the week after that." And last but not least today 1/4/2010 I received my FIRST response from any politician to whom I have emailed since 12/23/09. The response was from State Senator Mark Leno. Three points he made 1) EDD director Patric Henning resigned 12/17/09, 2) I should phone Senator Leno's office and 3) Senator Leno conveyed that he wanted to help me and that his staff normally helps citizens in his district as quickly as they can. After I received Senator Leno's email I actually received a telephone call from a nice woman who said she worked in his office. She took some more information including my soc# and was going to follow up on my case. So my advice is look up your state senator and state assemblymember and begin telephoning their local offices. You will need to provide information about your case and understand they are swamped with requests for help right now.
Anyway, I had not read about Patrick Henning's resignation (cheer oh happy days) or the THOUSANDS of Californians who did NOT get sent checks on 12/15/09 (contrary the EDD website) in any newspaper I read, nor did I see it on any newscast I watch local and CNN, MSNBC, Fox. Absolutely unbelievable isn't it? I find the lack of media coverage on this EDD fiasco amazing -- especially in this day and age with our technology. I mean it is mind bending to me that I can turn on CNN and other networks and see all day coverage of police chasing an empty balloon or see all day coverage of a barn fire in Iowa, but really important news that is affecting thousands of living breathing human beings is somehow overlooked. Just like me and the thousands of unemployed people who are being ignored by the EDD. Reality really is stranger than any fiction one can imagine isn't it?

I just really wanted to say thank you to everyone that has put in their experiences with the EDD on this post. All of the info helped me out tremendously! I thought getting through someone was going to be mission impossible because I kept getting hung up on.

This was my situation, I was laid off in June 2009. Since then I had my benefits frozen in July due to my mistake in filling out the form. Ok fine, I'm new to this so I made copies of my paper work every I filled out the forms. Well apparently I did it again(although my copy revealed that it did not) so my last check received was in October , I received a letter advising me of a phone interview on December 18 from 12-2pm. I received a call at 1:58, questioning my mistake. We cleared it up on the phone and I was told that I would be receiving a check in the mail. Well obviously that wasn't the case so I called the automated line everyday for the next week days to check to see if I would be getting a check. Nothing that matches with my SSN, so I emailed them on the 28th considering it's 10 days after my phone interview. As of today I still have not received a response to my e-mail. So I have been calling the 800 number for some days now, and as soon as I think I'm getting through I get hung up on every time UNTIL I did the 1, 3, 0 trick. I still got hung up on but I kept at it and I finally got through. I was polite and direct with what I needed, and the women on the other line helped me out by giving me a number (916) 683-4400. They told me I had to contact my office which was (909) 383-4663. I told them my situation and it was cleared up right over the phone. The key is to be patient, clear, and kind. Appreciation gets you further rather than making your problem theirs.

When I asked what was the problem, he said the women who interviewed me didn't follow through with correcting my mistake in the system, it was all of one click! He also said I should receive a check within 2 days and to check the automated system tomorrow. The holiday were a bummer and I'm behind on my bills, but I feel a lot less stressed knowing that I will be getting something soon.

It just bothers me that we pay into a system such as this but yet we have to go through obstacles to attain these benefits. I hope that my post will help someone out there that is going through these tough times.

I am crying right now. I remember the days before 1980 when working people had value. Since 1981 working people are on their own and the government and rich feel its better we die because 33 million illegal immigrants easily replace us. If you face eviction due to the government mess know a Homeless Prevention Fund - Rental Assistance may be available through HUD to communities. San Francisco link is: http://sfhomeless.wikia.com/wiki/San...tal_Assistance The City makes us call various charities which pass us along to other charities; but at the end we may get a ONE time loan to cover some rent. In my case $800. Do not give up. The rich, media, government, republicans AND democrats are our enemies. They want working people dead so they can replace us with illegals. Do not die, but fight and live. Post here whatever can help fellow Americans. God help us all. UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FAIL. Together we can survive and take our country back.

    As Per Pepsidad,

I tried the the 1,3,0 method as well after trying for 2 weeks trying to get a rep on the phone with no luck and with trying this method after the 2nd call i finally got a Live Voice within 5 mins of calling the the 800 number.. I should be getting a remailed claim form or my actual check i have not received for 3 weeks now.

I registered just to let everyone know that I was finally able to get through to a live person at EDD using the 1-3-0 combination (only took 2 calls!). Prior to this, I'd been dialing everyday for 2 weeks. I thought I was going crazy!

The rep was very nice and helped me with my issue. My original claim expired and I needed to jump through a couple hoops to get an extension. While it is frustrating getting through to them, the folks on the other end of the line at the EDD are pretty nice and do what they can to help. Just wanted to share my success.

Thanks everyone for the great information!
