Default Name And Identity Change
2nd guessing myself;

as in the case with erts01 in GA question, with a legal name & identity + TIN change much prior to the effective"default" on the credit card how would that play out? And how would the debt collector even know who to sue to begin with?

You're speaking about an ITIN as opposed to a Social Security Number? The IRS keeps records of ITIN's, just as the Social Security Administration keeps track of Social Security Numbers. Not everybody qualifies for an ITIN, and employers are going to want a SSN.

Credit bureaus will attempt to match up the new number with the old account. If you change your name through a court, there's a public record of your name change. A creditor who wants to find you will eventually find you.

Name change done out of state where declared primary residence was previously. not a place where ever received mail etc. only on the DL.

as for ssn/tin change, it is a new number alltogether. old number not linked to new number.

employers will just get the new number.

and the govt. is ok with that so i don't see how an employer could have an issue with that.

it is kind of a shame that when you are overseas and you place a active duty military freeze on your credit file, that it doesn't matter and people can still steal and use your identity anyway! and the credit bureau's do nothing about it, not even one attempt to notify anyone.

And keep in mind i paid off ALL of the debt that i charged and then some. i paid for the little bell and whistle "identity theft" "Fraud" protection and then when i needed it they both ignored me and wouldn't honor actual protection i had been paying for.

all of this is also Unsecured Credit Card debt. the most anyone was able to charge on any one card was one $2,900 charge back in 2005. the others were small cards w/ $500- $1000 limits that surfaced out of no where and never saw a statement for until i found it on the credit report.

and when i notified the bureau and the companies they started sending a statement and i guess expecting me to pay it.
