Default Child Custody After A One Night Stand
My State: Louisiana
Her State: Georgia

One Night Stand, Mother Has Since Moved Away And Has Stop Talking To Me Since, No Contact, The Baby Is Due Next Month. I Want To Know If I Will Get Into Touble By Going Out There And Taking The Baby? Should I Hire A Lawyer To Set Custody And Support? How Long Does This Take? I Am 19 And Have My Own Place, A Great Job, And I Am Also In The Army. She Doesnt Work And Lives At Home. Its A Girl. Any Ideas?

YES - you will get in trouble for going out there and taking the baby. It is called KIDNAPPING and is a federal crime by crossing state lines. How do you KNOW it is even your unborn child? If you want to have ANY rights then you need to file asking for a paternity test. IF the test comes back showing you are the father you can and will need to pay child support. You will NOT get 100% physical custody of an infant. You CAN file for joint legal custody and ASK for shared physical custody...BUT as you are a single male in the USArmy - you will NOT be able to have primary custody - who would take care of the baby if you were suddenly deployed or called in on a mobilization exercize??

You REALLY need to think this whole thing through before you make any sudden decisions... think about what is best for the baby - not yourself or the mother. AND I suggest you be REALLY nice to the mom - IF you are the dad you will be dealing with her for the next 18 years.

Finally - please do not Capitalize Every Word - it makes your post hard to read.
