Default Creditor's Invoice Responsibilities
Hi -

I am from Virginia. I have had a line of credit for emergency vet expenses for over a year now.

At an emergency veterinarian center I used an emergency line of credit that I had opened a year ago at a former address. I was told by the office that their was no interest for 3 months and I wrongly heard them that there were no payments required for 3 months as well.

When I did not receive an invoice the next month I attributed it to my understanding of the creditor's terms. However, two months later I began receiving calls from GE Credit's collections department stating that I was two months passed due and had accrued two late fees. I informed them that I had not received an invoice and discovered they had they had not updated my contact information to reflect my new mailing address. I had them send me a new invoice and asked them to remove the late fees which they agreed.

About a week later I got a free credit report which contained a negative mark from GE for the above situation. When I called them to complain about this they refused to remove the bad mark and said they could only take off a single late fee.

Was it their responsibility to send me an invoice to the correct address? Can I get this damage to my credit removed?

You aren't very clear here.

It's your responsibility to ensure that your creditor has your correct address. When you moved, did you you notify your creditor in writing that you had done so?
