Each crime is seperate this includes his giving her oral sex. she needs to get a plea deal or face nearly 20 years behind bars. Each act is seperate crime each with its own sentence. Now a judge give her 6 years for each act (3 so far) and run them together meaning only six years. But yes i am sure each act is a crime even if it happened at same time

She was in fact being charged with three charges, but I understand she faced six years for all the act (statutory rape law).

After Dad mentioned Oral sex twice and intercourse I pointed out its possible to charge her with three counts and "if" each carried a max sentence of 6 years it "could" mean 18 years. At this point Dad has not said what or how many counts his daughter faces. I made the point to show what a good deal 1 - 2 years was.

But she performed oral sex to prepare the intercourse ! I didn't understand why she was charged three times. Who is the perverse who wrote such a law. I understand why she had to describe every detail of the act and why they interviewed so precisely the guy. But what jury 'll send a young woman 18 years behind bars for that ?

While consecutive is possible, concurrent is more likely ... but, that is based upon the result of similar offenses in MY state - other states may feel less compassion that warm and cuddly California.

Upsetdad, depending on how many months in age they are apart, it is either a Class D felony or a Class E felony.

See this post for Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-13-506

Class E felonies are punishable by one to six years incarceration and a fine up to $3,000.

Class D felonies are punishable by two to twelve years incarceration and a fine up to $5,000.

I like to gamble...vegas, atlantic city, tunica, you name it. This would be a bad bet to me and one I would not take. If you take it, you will find out.
She was charged 3 times, for the 3 acts she committed one for each.
