DH signed our lease on 05/22/06 supposable for one year but when I read through the agreement I found that the expiration date is blank. LL cashed payments from us monthly, so according to my understanding we were in a month to month lease after the one year cut off date, even the paperwork is blank???
I gave verbal notice of our move 30 days in advance which was accepted by LL. Two weeks into becoming a home owner and completing our lease my DH's company dropped the bomb on him, with restructuring to company with a possibly move or downsizing. We went back to the LL and asked to let us stay, which he was willing to do with an amendment to rental agreement for one additional year.
The amendment was signed on 02/10/08 with the term starting on 03/01/08.
Can I terminate the original contract with written or verbal notice and get out from under the renewal or my best chance is to negotiate with LL???
The house had a leak through the roof and the furnace placed in the attic, which requires the builder to send back the contractor at default to do the repair, which will mean cutting the sheet rock about in an area of 4x5 feet, replacing it, refinishing it, etc. etc. etc. Do I have to agree for such a repair?
