Chances Of Getting Deported

I'm a canadian citizen, and i just had a baby with my Fiance. He's a perminant resedent of Canada but is curently in jail for teft under. He was also in jail last year for robery. Last year he was given papers saying they wanted to deport him cause of his first offence as an adult. we spoke to an immigration lawyer and he stated that he most likley wouldnt get deported but now he has another thing on his record. If he where to get deported he has no family or any place to live and would be leaving me and our baby. If he was to get deported how would he be able to come back and is there any thing i can do to try and keep him from being deported.
