Default Paternity Testing And Fathers Rights in New Hampshire
I am two months pregnant and live in New Hampshire. I am separated from the father of the baby, and currently back with my ex-fiance. I would like to know what rights and legal actions the FOB can take to having part in this childs life. He has a criminal record and a history of domestic violence. I would prefer to have nothing to do with him. Can he get an order for a paternity test? I have also heard that if I am married when the baby is born, he has no legal right to it. True?

The father has the legal right to file to establish paternity, custody, visitation and CS once the baby is born.

Even if you are married when the baby is born, the father will still have the right to file.

Although I understand that you would "prefer to have nothing to do with him" the reality is that you have decided to have a child with him, so you should begin now to get used to the idea that if he chooses, he will be a part of YOUR life, at least for 18 to 21 years.
