You are generally considered to be the father and will usually appear on the birth certificate by default. HOWEVER, after the birth, the bio father can petition a court for a paternity test. If he's the father, he can petition to change the birth certificate, can petition for custody, will most certainly be granted visitation, and will generally be ordered to pay for child support, regardless of whether mom asks for it or not. The bio father's right to access to his child is going to take legal precedence - so if he wants to pursue the matter, you're stuck with him being in the life of his child.
