Default How Can I File A Petition To Have My Name Removed From A Childs Birth Certificate
This is what happen I was dating a lady that was not honest about who she was seeing before me so she became pregnant while we were dating. I though the baby was my child so I signed the birth certificate. a couple weeks after signing we both agreed on a blood test, the test returned and I was excluded from being the childs father I did not go thru the courts for the blood test I paid for it out of pocket not know that I needed to submit that to the courts for them to change the birth certificate and go after the real father. So it's been 8 yrs never heard from the lady and 3 days ago I get a letter from Kansas child enforcement services saying I will have to start paying child support and I'm like for who had no idea what she was talking about so I sent her the paper work from the test results and she said that did not matter you are the father because you sign the birth certificate. So she is filing for me to be served to pay child support I will have a court date. Is there any options that I have to show that I was excluded in 2000 when the child was born and the mother also knows the childs father. What can I do on my end before I am served with these papers. The child was born in GA but I guess the mother is in Kansas now and getting some kind of assistance.

The child is legally your child. After 8 years they are not going to disestablish paternity without the bio-father establishing. I would recommend filing for Visitation and Joint Legal custody. At the very least you could have a good relationship with your daughter and perhaps Mom will not like having to "share" and convince the bio-father to step-up and establish paternity.
